HCMC – Starting early 2025, subsidized bus services in HCMC will adopt a cashless payment system, according to the HCMC Department of Transport.
The department has been collaborating with HCMC Urban Railway Company 1 (HURC1), the HCMC Management Center of Public Transport, and Mastercard to implement and test the system on select bus routes.
A pilot program is underway on 10 buses operating on routes 3, 14, 32, 102, and 122. Mastercard is providing the necessary equipment and payment solutions for the trial.
In early December, the department will host a conference to gather evaluations, feedback, and results from the pilot program. The insights will help shape the plan for rolling out the cashless payment system across all subsidized bus routes.
The full implementation of cashless payments for subsidized buses is expected to enhance the convenience and efficiency of public transportation in the city.
