HCMC – Sun Airport Joint Stock Company (SAC), a subsidiary of Sun Group, will take over the operation of Phu Quoc International Airport starting January 1, 2026.
SAC will assume management from Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV). Under a license issued by the Ministry of Construction, the company will be responsible for managing, operating, exploiting and maintaining the airport’s aviation infrastructure, ensuring safe and smooth operations in line with regulations.
Earlier, the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security approved Phu Quoc airport’s aviation security program. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also granted SAC an airport operation certificate.
Sun Airport Joint Stock Company is headquartered at Phu Quoc International Airport, located in An Giang Province. In June, the company was named investor of a major airport expansion project covering 1,050 hectares, with a designed capacity of 20 million passengers per year.
The project has a total investment of nearly VND22 trillion and is scheduled for completion within two years. It is among five key projects being fast-tracked to serve APEC 2027.
Construction is underway on a second runway, international terminal T2 and VIP facilities, along with expanded aircraft parking areas and supporting infrastructure, to meet the timeline for the APEC summit.
