Suspension of passenger transport services to/from Danang extended

Must read

HCMC – All passenger transport services to and from Danang will continue to be suspended until further notice as the central city has decided to extend the social distancing period to contain the spread of Covid-19.

Last night, the Transport Ministry sent an urgent dispatch regarding a passenger transport plan to serve the fight against Covid-19 to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), the Vietnam Railway Corporation, the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the transport departments in provinces and cities nationwide.

Accordingly, passenger flights to/from Danang, which is the country’s current Covid-19 epicenter, will remain suspended. Domestic passenger flights to/from other localities, except for Danang, and cargo flights will continue as usual.

For passenger flights to/from Chu Lai airport in Quang Nam Province, which borders Danang, the ministry asked CAAV to work with local carriers to reduce the frequency of flights. The carriers were told to fully comply with the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 aviation health safety protocols.

Besides, road transport services on fixed routes by chartered cars, buses, taxis to/from Danang and within the city will continue to be ceased.

Cars transporting workers and experts from businesses, patients or those completing the mandatory quarantine period, necessities and other commodities to assist with efforts to combat the pandemic are still allowed in the city.

Local bus stations in the city have to comply with requirements to temporarily cease passenger services on fixed routes, the ministry noted.

Similarly, passenger trains departing from and arriving in Danang are still under suspension. Trains operating on the Hanoi-HCMC route are not allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at the Danang station.
