HCMC – A delegation of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development Project (ST4SD) is surveying the potential of the Mekong Delta region’s tourism to cooperate with the region in developing sustainable tourism.
According to the Can Tho portal, the site survey conducted from May 16 to 19 aims to determine local potential, capacity and commitment to participating in the projects in the upcoming time.
Nguyen Thuc Hien, vice chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee on May 17, worked with SECO to implement the sustainable tourism development project in Vietnam funded by the Government of Switzerland in 2023-2027.
The comprehensive strategy for Vietnam aims to support the country in achieving sustainable growth toward a market-based economy, said Katrin Ochsenbein, deputy head of the Cooperation and Development Division at the Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam.
ST4SD will contribute to building sustainable, comprehensive tourism in Vietnam in 2023-2027 by enhancing public-private dialogues on tourism policies, improving management skills and developing sustainable tourism.
Switzerland now supports Can Tho City in managing public funds and developing sustainable urban development and tourism.
