Protecting strategic assets

HCMC is entering an intensive phase of digital transformation with a large-scale “data cleaning” campaign aimed at breaking down “information silos” and building a shared data repository. The city now views data not merely as stored information, but as a “strategic asset.” In relation to this invaluable asset, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat issued Directive 57-CT/TW on December 31, 2025 strengthening cybersecurity, information security, and data security across the political system. The Saigon Times spoke with Vo Thi Trung Trinh, director of the HCMC Digital Transformation Center (HCMC-DXCENTER), to explore coordinated solutions for both leveraging and safeguarding data.
