The tea hub aspiration

The International Tea Festival 2025 (World Tea Fest 2025) has just concluded, yet the aspiration for Lam Dong Province to become a ‘tea hub’ is already spreading Nguyen Nhat Hoai’s family runs a small tea shop in Quy Nhon City. Hoai and two friends from Quang Trung University (formerly in Binh Dinh Province, now in Gia Lai Province) developed a cool‑drying technique that reduces bitterness while preserving the natural fragrance of tea. In another story, three students—Nguyen Thuy Hang, Le Thuc Yen, and Hoang Mai—from three different universities in Hanoi teamed up to develop the ‘Moc An Tra’ (Moc An Tea) project. Their idea involves extracting essential oils from discarded, aged tea leaves to produce scented candles and perfumes, with the goal of creating signature fragrances for spas, hotels, and banks. Creativity at the contest was further highlighted by innovations such as flowering tea cubes accompanied by traditional drama and opera music, as well as a business model called ‘Tea on a Canoe,’ which offers visitors a chance to experience the river culture of the Mekong Delta while enjoying tea.
