Strengthening policy frameworks

As domestic and international investors increasingly focus on sustainability, there is a pressing need to bolster policy frameworks and address challenges in the development of industrial parks and economic zones to make them more attractive Challenges for industrial parks As of February 20, Vietnam had had a total of 418 industrial parks, which comprise various types such as 317 outside of economic zones, 39 inside coastal economic zones, and eight inside border gate economic zones. Among these, 298 operational industrial zones cover approximately 92,200 hectares of land, with around 63,100 hectares designated for industrial use. Additionally, 120 industrial zones are currently under construction with a total natural land area of about 37,500 hectares, of which industrial zones amount to 26,100 hectares. The total industrial land area for lease nationwide was around 51,300 hectares, with an occupancy rate of roughly 57.5%. Out of the 298 operational industrial zones, 272 of them have operated wastewater treatment facilities that meet environmental standards, representing around 91.3% of the total.
