But how can we make the most of these advantages to add value to tourism products and foster sustainable development? Small steps, giant leaps During my recent journey through the central region, I deliberately seized every opportunity to learn about the economic situation there. I found that certain places have undergone major changes over the past two years. However, alongside the emergence of new infrastructure, the construction of some urban and commercial projects has ground to a halt for various reasons. These suspensions may be attributed to hurdles in paperwork, time-consuming licensing procedures, or financial challenges. Instances of investors who have been investigated for irregularities are evident, while others have expressed concerns about the potential economic inefficiency of their ventures. Meanwhile, there have been no considerable changes in most other places. It appears that local authorities and residents persistently anticipate support from the Government and investors from elsewhere. However, given the current economic challenges, it is crucial for both local authorities and residents to be more proactive.
