Tan Cang Logistics hikes container fees on rising fuel prices

HCMC – Tan Cang Logistics JSC has announced a fuel-indexed surcharge for empty container lifting and dropping services, which could surpass VND700,000 (US$26) per unit if diesel oil prices exceed VND47,000 per liter.

The surcharge is pegged to DO 0.05S-II diesel oil prices (Region I), divided into 10 price brackets. For instance, when diesel oil is between VND20,000 and 23,000 per liter, the surcharge for 20-foot containers is VND37,300, and VND55,100 for 40/45-foot units.

When prices soar to the VND47,001–50,000 range, these fees will climb to VND307,400 and VND453,800, respectively. For specialized units like reefer, open-top, and flat-rack containers, the surcharge could reach between VND468,500 and VND717,300. These rates, which include VAT (value-added tax), have taken effect since March 10 at the company’s Tan Cang My Thuy and Tan Cang Tan Van depots, with adjustments to be updated based on Petrolimex’s fuel price announcements.

The company has attributed this adjustment to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have disrupted global oil supplies and significantly driven up logistics operating costs.
