HCMC – Around 145,000 travelers are expected to pass through the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC on January 26, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (Tet) and the final day of the Tet holiday, the highest daily passenger traffic volume during the holiday.
According to the Southern Airports Authority, the airport will receive a total of 913 flights, with 71,000 arrivals and 38,000 departures for domestic routes. International passengers are forecast to hit 35,000.
On January 25, the airport handled 137,000 passengers, breaking the record of 130,000 passengers set on January 19.
There were 7,000 passengers traveling through the airport from midnight to 2:00 a.m. on January 26. The number of travelers may reach around 40,000 during the peak hours between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
On average, the airport has one aircraft movement every one and a half minutes.
Many flights are more than 90% full as Tet revelers have begun traveling back from their hometowns in central and northern provinces to major cities and provinces in southern Vietnam.
