CAN THO – The southern province of Tay Ninh has put into operation its first inland container depot (ICD) at the Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone to strengthen trade connectivity in the southeastern region.
The facility, invested by Tan Cang Tay Ninh JSC under Saigon Newport Corporation, covers 16.5 hectares with total capital of VND550 billion. It includes a container yard, consolidation warehouses, truck parking areas, cranes, forklifts, trailers, and logistics services.
The ICD will serve as a customs clearance, consolidation, and distribution center, helping reduce pressure on major seaports in southern Vietnam. It can handle nearly 6.5 million tons of cargo per year, including shipments from Cambodia, and is directly connected to seaports in HCMC and the Cai Mep–Thi Vai complex.
The Moc Bai ICD is part of Vietnam’s master plan for inland container depot development for 2021–2030, with a vision toward 2050.
Authorities said the project will leverage the HCMC–Moc Bai Expressway, which is expected to be completed in 2027, to enhance cross-border logistics. Once the expressway is operational, Tay Ninh is expected to become a logistics and trade hub linking HCMC, the southeastern region, Cambodia, and other ASEAN countries.
