HCMC – The heatwave that is sweeping Vietnam has reached a dangerous new peak today, April 7, with temperatures in the central region from Thanh Hoa Province to Hue City surpassing the 40-degrees-Celsius mark.

Further south, the south-central coast is facing temperatures from 33 to 39 degrees Celsius. In the Central Highlands, southern Vietnam, and HCMC, the mercury is hovering at 34 to 36 degrees Celsius, with sporadic evening showers offering little relief.

With the intensification of the heatwave, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), the UV indices across most localities have reached high to very high harm levels. Citizens are advised to limit outdoor activities between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., maintain proper hydration, and use high-level sun protection to mitigate the impact of this extreme weather event.

Meanwhile, statistics by NCHMF show that in the northwestern region, the weather remains equally punishing, with highs ranging from 35 to 38 degrees Celsius and some locations topping 39 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Hanoi and northeastern provinces are experiencing widespread heat with peaks between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius. Coastal areas like Quang Ninh and Haiphong remain slightly cooler, hovering around 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.
