On January 16, the Truong Sa 01 and the Truong Sa 19 naval ships departed from the port of the Naval Region 2 Command to carry two delegations and Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts and goods presented by people throughout the country for officers and soldiers on duty on DK1 offshore platforms, patrol ships at sea and Con Dao Island, the special zone off HCMC.
Speaking at the departing ceremony, Colonel Do Hong Duyen, deputy political commissar of Naval Region 2, on behalf of the Naval Region 2 Command, sent the best wishes to the officers and soldiers protecting the sovereignty of the country’s seas and islands, and wished the delegations to accomplish their missions.
Colonel Pham Tien Dung, deputy chief of staff of the Naval Region 2 Command, told baotintuc.vn that a delegation would bring Tet gifts and goods to officers and soldiers on duty on the DK1 platforms and to those on patrol at sea. Meanwhile, the other delegation would visit, extend Tet wishes, and hand over Tet gifts and goods to government agencies and the Party Committee of Con Dao Special Zone.
Donating organs to save lives
On January 12, multi-organ removal and transplant surgeries were performed at Military Central Hospital 108 in Hanoi. The donor was a 46-year-old female healthcare worker who was diagnosed with brain death because of a hemorrhagic stroke. Despite grieving the death of their relative, the family of the female healthcare worker decided to donate her organs to patients in need.
After a two-hour professional consultation chaired by Prof. Dr. Le Huu Song, director of Military Central Hospital 108, with the participation of experts in and out of the hospital, the Organ Transplant Center coordinated with the hospital to remove organs from the brain-dead donor to transplant them to patients in need.
Accordingly, the liver was transplanted into a 36-year-old male patient; the two kidneys were grafted into a 37-year-old female patient and a 47-year-old male patient. Two corneas were transferred to Hue Central Hospital in Hue City for transplantation to patients waiting for their turns at the hospital.

The “Colors of Friendship” exhibition
On January 12, the “Colors of Friendship” exhibition was officially opened at the Fine Arts Exhibition House in Hanoi, featuring 69 works by Vietnamese and Korean artists. The event was jointly organized by the UNESCO Hanoi Fine Arts Center and the Korea International Art Exchange Association.
In the opening speech, Phan Thi Thanh Mai, director of the UNESCO Hanoi Fine Arts Center, said the “Colors of Friendship” exhibition is testimony to the sustainable international exchange and cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea.
Vietnamese artists brought about 50 works to the event, reflecting the country’s contemporary art, using materials such as lacquer, silk, acrylic, and oil. These artworks depict the beauty of nature, the country and the people of Vietnam.
Korean artists Park Yeon Hee, Lee Hyang Jae, Jeong Huyn Ja and Yoo Young Kwae introduced some 20 paintings using materials such as watercolor, powder paint, acrylic and mixed media. Kim Jung Taek, president of the Korea International Art Exchange Association, told baotintuc.vn that he has been collaborating with Vietnamese artists for over 30 years through professional exchanges with artists from the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
