HCMC – Thousands of people gathered in the Cho Lon area (District 5) in HCMC to join the Tet Nguyen Tieu parade of the Chinese Vietnamese community on the afternoon of February 12.
Tet Nguyen Tieu, also known as the Lantern Festival or the celebration of the Lunar New Year’s First Full Moon, is a traditional festival of the Chinese people, celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month.
Although the parade is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m., a large crowd arrives early to secure viewing spots and parking spacesAt around 4:30 p.m., the Tet Nguyen Tieu parade starts on Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street, covering a 4-kilometer route through Chau Van Liem, Lao Tu, Luong Nhu Hoc, Nguyen Trai and Tran Xuan Hoa streets, and ends at the District 5 Cultural Center.
