HCMC – The Royal Thai Consulate-General and the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ThaiCham) have awarded 140 scholarships worth VND700 million to children in HCMC who lost their parents or caregivers from Covid-19.
The funding for the scholarship was raised from Thai businesses and people in Vietnam through the “Love heart” (Trai tim yeu thuong) program run by the HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients.
The program was launched on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana of Thailand on June 3 and International Children’s Day on June 1.
The campaign also helped promote closer ties between people of Thailand and Vietnam and marks the first CSR activity in a series in the post-Covid era.
Thai Consule General Wiraka Moodhitaporn said the “Love heart” program showed the kindness of Thai people and businesses in HCMC on the basis of the relationship between the two countries and the love for children.
