Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has for long been a big part of DXC Technology Vietnam’s culture that runs deep and wide and is at the heart of what the whole company does. CSR efforts at DXC Vietnam, previously known as “CSC Vietnam”, have been reflected via a series of connection stories that inspire people coming together to make an impactful difference in the local community.
Inspiring stories that resonate
Traditionally people often conduct worshipping rites for a new office with the belief to bring good luck to business and people. On the occasion of DXC Vietnam’s new office opening ceremony on September 9 last year, the firm made a special and more meaningful way to celebrate its new office by raising fund to donate VND100 million to the Christina Noble Children Foundation. The donation was aimed at providing necessary supplies including warm clothes, stationery, food, and education equipment to 200 poor students of three primary schools.
In October this year, the tech firm established Quan Vinh Ky Fund and encouraged the contribution from all of its employees. A total fund worth VND53 million has been donated and created under Ky’s name with a new important mission: to fully support DXC Vietnam employees and their families during their hardship.
“Few years ago, back in 2017, Quan Vinh Ky – our ex-employee, was diagnosed with cancer. At that time, a call for contribution to aid her treatment started and received a substantial contribution from all employees with the wish to help Ky overcome her sickness. However, our dear Ky was unable to recover and passed away in January 2018. What was strikingly emotional was a reaction from her family to return a VND160-million fund with a simple message: to bring hopes to places where they are needed.
“Since then the fund has been used to financially support cancer patients under treatment at Children Hospital 2 in HCMC, several colleagues during their hard times, especially when their children underwent treatment in hospitals, including one case with an employee whose child has been fighting with brain cancer,” a DXC Vietnam representative shared the story with the Saigon Times.
Offering care to children
With the hope to bring new smiles to disfigured children in remoted localities, DXC Vietnam in January this year donated VND115 million to the Operation Smile Vietnam, an association providing free surgeries for Vietnamese poor children who were born with facial deformities – suffering from cleft lips, cleft palate. The gifts were expected to not only bring them a beautiful smile but also a bright future.
The IT company’s care for children goes on. On the occasion of Children’s Day 2019, a team of DXC Vietnam paid a special visit to Children Hospital 2 to present Children’s Day gifts to pediatric patients undergoing cancer treatment. As many as 162 gifts valued at VND67 million were given to these children in the hope that they could enjoy having fun during their hospital stay. Apart from that, the firm has tapped its charity fund to give back to society through numerous visits to underprivileged children.
Joining Covid-19 and flood relief efforts
The firm is currently raising fund to support the flood relief efforts for Central Vietnam. It had received VND70 million as of October 19 and the fund is increasing day-by-day. A DXC delegation of volunteers would make a trip to present the medicines and necessities to families affected by flooding in the central provinces of Thue Thien-Hue and Quang Tri.
On May 8 this year 2020, Ngo Hung Phuong, managing director of DXC Vietnam, presented a symbolic check worth VND144 million to Tran Truong Son, chairman of HCMC Red Cross Society, to help strengthen relief efforts and provide substantial support to underprivileged families severely affected by the pandemic.
The contribution from DXC Vietnam represents the firm’s deep commitment to support underprivileged families, disadvantaged and low-income people during these difficult times by bringing necessities to where they are needed most.
And actively joining blood donation drives
Learning that donating blood is a simple yet noble act to help save lives, members of DXC Vietnam actively join blood donation programs annually to share their blood with those patients in need. On October 17 this year, 40 members of the firm participated in the Blood Donation Day, which was jointly organized by the Saigon Times Group and the HCMC Blood Donation Center.
“We are all happy to join this very meaningful program with the wish to share our blood, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said the representative.
Earlier last year, members of the firm also joined the “AmCham World Blood Donor Day 2019” which was organized by AMCHAM and the HCMC Hospital of Hematology and Blood Transfusion on June 13 and the Blood Donation Day held by the Saigon Times Group on October 12.
