A 300kg bomb safely detonated in Phu Tho
On December 22, local residents in Van Mieu Commune, Phu Tho Province, found the bomb along the bank of the He River while digging soil for ground leveling. An initial inspection by relevant forces found that the bomb could pose a danger to residents in the neighborhood.
The Military Command of Phu Tho Province promptly coordinated with the Van Mieu Commune People’s Committee to cordon off the area and guard it to prevent public approach. The bomb was then identified as a GP300 high-explosive bomb weighing about 300kg. This type of bomb was widely used by French army during the 1946-1954 war in Vietnam. It was designed to cause damages with its fragments and blast shockwaves.
The GP300 bomb was 1.3m long with its body diameter measuring some 40cm. Although having been buried underground for decades, it could still explode and be very dangerous. The bombs were found in such northern provinces as Son La and Phu Tho.
On December 25, at the military training ground in Tan Hoa Ward, the Military Command of Phu Tho successfully carried out the controlled detonation of the bomb. The operation was conducted in accordance with technical procedures, ensuring absolute safety throughout the process, baotintuc.vn reported.
Kind Vietnamese women in South Korea
In 2008, after graduating from university, Nguyen Thi Bay married a South Korean man and moved to live there. Although she had reached an intermediate level in Korean, her life in Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, was quite different from her imagination.
Bay was recruited to work as a consultant and interpreter at a Family Support Center after nine months. In 2013, she was the only Vietnamese employee working as an interpreter for Samsung Electronics. After giving birth to a son, she began to work at a court in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
In 2020, seeing that many Vietnamese wives still experience cultural shock when living with their husbands in South Korea, Bay created a YouTube channel to share her experiences and recipes for Korean dishes she learned from her mother-in-law.
Meanwhile, 10 years ago, Hoang Thi Ha got married and went to South Korea. Recognizing the difficulties facing Vietnamese wives abroad, she established a community gathering of about 100 Vietnamese women. She helped translate their papers or carry their children to hospital. She also taught the Korean language to Vietnamese women and taught Vietnamese to their children, vnexpress.net reported.
