HCMC – An additional 18 kilometers of the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway will be opened to traffic on April 28, bringing the total length of the road in service to over 30 kilometers.

The opening of this section between National Highway 1A and the Nguyen Van Tao interchange is to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation (April 30, 1975–April 30, 2025), said the Southern Expressway Project Management Board.

The first section totaling around 10 kilometers was put into use on January 23 this year, connecting the Phuoc An port interchange and National Highway 51 which leads to Vung Tau City. The second section of 3.4 kilometers was also opened on the same day, linking the HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway and National Highway 1A.

The opening of the third section of the expressway between National Highway 1A and the Nguyen Van Tao interchange will help ease congestion on Nguyen Huu Tho and Nguyen Van Linh roads in the southern part of the city.

The Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway is 57.8 kilometers long, linking Long An, HCMC, and Dong Nai.

The expressway is anticipated to ease traffic on National Highway 1, National Highway 51, and the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway, while also unlocking new growth potential for industrial parks, seaports, and airports across the region.

The project costs a total of nearly VND29.6 trillion, financed by ADB loans (VND7.09 trillion), JICA loans (VND9.23 trillion), funding from the State budget (VND3.87 trillion), and credit raised by VEC (VND9.40 trillion).
