The prime minister has signed Decision No. 236/QD-TTg recognizing 30 artifacts and groups of artifacts as national treasures (Batch 14). Of these, HCMC has an artifact and a group of artifacts that belong to private museums and collectors.
The city’s recognized artifact is a pottery bowl from the Hoa Loc culture, dating back to some 4,000 years, and is now displayed at the Museum of Pottery from the Founding Period in An Phu Ward, HCMC. Meanwhile, the recognized group of artifacts comprises multicolored glazed ceramic statues of the Three Great Emperor-Officials, dating from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, and belongs to the private collection of Le Thanh Nghia.
As of 2025, Vietnam had 357 artifacts and groups of artifacts recognized as national treasures. HCMC alone had 25 national treasures, which are being preserved at the HCMC Museum of History, the Museum of HCMC, the HCMC Fine Arts Museum, the Binh Duong Museum, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Museum, the Museum of Pottery from the Founding Period and the private collection of Le Thanh Nghia.
A day of gratitude by the Thach Han River
On the full moon day of the first lunar month every year, the Thach Han River in Quang Tri Province becomes a venue for gratitude and memories. On this occasion, locals and tourists flock to the Thach Han River and the ancient citadel of Quang Tri to burn incense, offer flowers, and light candles to pay tribute to the soldiers who defended the citadel and sacrificed during the 81-day battle from June 28 to September 16, 1972.
On the 15th day of the first lunar month this year, the province’s Department of Health, in cooperation with the government of Quang Tri Ward, organized the Lantern Night program to commemorate the heroic martyrs on the Thach Han River. The event attracted quite a few officials, Youth Union members, war veterans, and local residents who came over to burn incense and release lanterns along the river to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs.
During the 81 days defending the ancient citadel, thousands of young soldiers and people bravely fought and sacrificed. The Lantern Night on the Thach Han River, held every full moon day of the first lunar month, is also aimed at reminding the young generation that today’s independence and freedom have come from the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of people, baotintuc.vn reported.
Brau teacher vows to improve education quality
As the first Brau woman who was elected to the 15th National Assembly and continued to be nominated for the 16th National Assembly, Nang Xo Vi, 30, a teacher at Kon Tum Ethnic Boarding High School in Quang Ngai Province, told dantocphattrien.vietnamnet.vn that she would continue to improve the quality of education for ethnic groups if elected.
Nang Xo Vi was born in Dak Me Village (Bo Y Commune, Quang Ngai Province) which is home to a small number of the Brau ethnic people. If she continues to be elected to the 16th National Assembly, she will propose ensuring learning opportunities for students in remote areas, investing in infrastructure and digital transformation in education, and focusing on policies to attract, retain, and develop teachers in disadvantaged areas.
In her action plan, Nang Xo Vi also pays close attention to creating jobs for young people, who are pioneers in socio-economic development and national defense. This is aimed not only at creating jobs but also at building a sustainable livelihood ecosystem so that young people, especially ethnic minorities, can thrive in their birthplaces and help preserve cultural identity.
Naval ship to the rescue
At 2:30 p.m. on March 3, Naval Ship 741 of Naval Squadron 129, Vietnam People’s Navy, helped transport a fisherman suffering from a stroke to the Health Center on Truong Sa Island at 5 p.m. on the same day for emergency treatment.
The fishing boat owned and steered by Nguyen Van Thuong, 47, departed from Tam Quang fishing port (Gia Lai Province) on February 12 with two other crew members for tuna fishing. On March 1, while fishing in the waters off Truong Sa Special Zone (Khanh Hoa Province), Thuong suddenly suffered from a stroke. Other fishermen on board contacted the commander on Da Lat Island, asking for help.
After examining the patient and finding no possible treatment, the island commander contacted Naval Ship 741 to request transport of the victim from Da Lat Island to the Health Center on Truong Sa Island. Thanks to the naval ship’s assistance, Thuong received timely treatment and was saved, baotintuc.vn reported.
Bravery Order for a brave man
On February 21, while resting in a camp near Thac Ba Lake in Lao Cai Province, Ha Ngoc Son, who lives in Trung Son Hamlet (Bao Ai Commune, Lao Cai Province), heard a loud sound of collision. Thinking that there was a serious accident on the lake, Son immediately steered his motorboat to the collision site.
Son quickly approached the site on the lake where the boat sank and where several victims were struggling in the water. Given his experience and bravery, he could save six people. After bringing the victims ashore and informing the local authorities, he returned to the site to help the rescue team look for those still missing overnight and on the following day.
On March 4, the State President signed Decision 237/QD-CTN to award a Bravery Order to Ha Ngoc Son for his outstanding and courageous action in rescuing victims of the boat sinking on Thac Ba Lake, dantocphattrien.vietnamnet.vn reported.
