HCMC – Over 8,000 engineers and workers are still at work at the Long Thanh International Airport project site in Dong Nai Province during the four-day National Day holiday which lasts until September 3.
Work is ongoing across multiple packages, including the passenger terminal, runway, air traffic control tower, and connecting roads, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
In the passenger terminal package, workers have completed the concrete reinforcement of columns and are now focusing on the installation of steel roof structures.
The 376,000-square-meter terminal is expected to be completed in August 2026.
Work on the first runway is progressing rapidly, with excavation and concrete pouring underway. Precision landing equipment is scheduled to be shipped to Vietnam in October and installed the following month. The runway is planned for completion by April 30 next year.
The two connecting roads T1 and T2 of the airport are now 55% completed. These components are expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
Concrete work for the air traffic control tower is on track to be finished this month, followed by the installation of steel structures and equipment. As planned, the 123-meter-tall tower will be ready for use by April 30, 2025.
Once fully operational, Long Thanh International Airport can serve up to 100 million passengers annually. The project is divided into three phases, with the last phase expected to be completed by 2040.
