HCMC – Three sections of the North-South Expressway – Van Phong-Nha Trang, Bai Vot-Ham Nghi, and Ham Nghi-Vung Ang – are on track to be completed by April 30, according to the Government news site (baochinhphu.vn).

By late February 2025, the Van Phong-Nha Trang section was 91% complete. The final 70 kilometers of the route are largely finished, with only minor tasks remaining. However, the first 13 kilometers still require significant work, posing a challenge to the overall progress.

The Van Phong-Nha Trang Expressway is 83 kilometers long, running through Khanh Hoa Province. A total of VND11,800 billion is required for this road.

One of the biggest hurdles in the final stage is unfavorable weather conditions, which have slowed construction. The revocation of the Ho Sau quarry’s license has forced contractors to source material from Hon Ngang quarry, increasing transportation costs.

Contractors are also facing financial difficulties, leading to delays, and the investor is working to reassign parts of the project to other members within the consortium.

The other two expressway sections, Bai Vot-Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi-Vung Ang, are also nearing completion, with work more than 73% done. The final tasks involve surface paving and installing traffic safety features.

Once the main roads are completed, contractors will prioritize frontage and cross-road construction to enhance connectivity.

The Bai Vot-Ham Nghi Expressway spans over 35 kilometers in Ha Tinh Province, with an investment of VND7,600 billion. The Ham Nghi-Vung Ang Expressway extends 54 kilometers, with nearly VND10,000 billion in investment.

In the initial phase, all three expressway sections will have four lanes, a 17-meter width, and a maximum speed limit of 90 kilometers per hour.
