HCMC – Work began on the Thu Duc City Book Street on December 28, according to the local media.

Thu Duc City Book Street will be set up on Ho Thi Tu Street in Hiep Phu Ward with a total length of 286 meters, starting at the junction with Le Van Duyet Street and ending at Ngo Quyen Street.

It will comprise nearly 20 book and coffee booths spanning 40 square meters each, the Ho Chi Minh cultural space, as well as another area for meetings between authors and readers, exhibitions and other relevant activities.

The book street is expected to be inaugurated in April 2023, on Vietnam Book Day (April 21), to celebrate the 48th anniversary of Vietnam’s Reunification Day (April 30).

The development of the book street aims to create a long-term space for the reading culture, facilitate a connection between authors and readers and contribute to the development of the publishing industry and reading culture, said Nguyen Ky Phung, vice chairman of Thu Duc City People’s Committee.

Given the support of prestigious publishing houses, the Thu Duc City Book Street will showcase thousands of books in various genres to meet the diverse demands of readers.

With a harmony between the green spaces and architecture of the existing park, the book street promises to attract a large number of people and youngsters from Thu Duc City and surrounding areas.

Currently, HCMC is known for Nguyen Van Binh Book Street in District 1. It has been put into operation since 2017 and has become a familiar destination for citizens and tourists in the city.
