HCMC — Flights from HCMC to northern Vietnam, including Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, and Haiphong, are filling up in the lead-up to the Lunar New Year (Tet), with ticket prices rising sharply.

The HCMC–Hanoi route, the busiest domestic corridor during Tet, has seen fares climb daily, with economy-class seats on popular flights already sold out. The peak travel period runs from February 2 to March 3, 2026, corresponding to the 15th day of the 12th lunar month to the 15th day of the first lunar month.

Vietnam Airlines fares for HCMC–Hanoi flights on February 12, 2026, ranged from VND5.4 million to VND9.9 million, depending on class, with economy seats fully booked. Vietjet tickets reached up to VND6.4 million, while business class availability also declined.

Some routes are experiencing an imbalance between outbound and return flights, with one direction fully booked while the opposite sees low occupancy.

Since August and September, domestic carriers have proactively launched ticket sales for Tet 2026. Vietnam Airlines Group will offer 3.5 million seats on domestic and international routes from February 2 to March 3, 2026, while Vietjet will make 2.5 million seats available from February 3 to March 2, 2026.
