Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel has launched “Ticket to Indonesia,” a culinary and cultural program running from August 8 to 20, to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia.
Part of the hotel’s “Ticket to Asia” series, the event highlights Indonesia’s heritage through food, music and dance. Saigon Café, the hotel’s signature dining venue, is featuring a buffet curated by guest chefs Aditya Maulana Saputra and Tedi Rizki Hariansyah, offering traditional dishes including Sop Buntut, Rendang Padang, Sate Padang, Gado Gado and Nasi Bali alongside its seafood spread.
The opening on August 12 drew diplomats, representatives of the Indonesian Consulate General in HCMC, media and hotel partners. Acting Consul General Adiguna Wijaya said the program served as a cultural bridge, bringing Vietnamese and Indonesians closer through shared experiences of food and art.
The launch included performances by the Guntur Madu troupe, founded in 2000 to preserve traditional dance and karawitan music, as well as décor and music designed to recreate Indonesia’s island landscapes.
By blending gastronomy, performance and diplomacy, “Ticket to Indonesia” underscores both nations’ enduring partnership and the role of cultural events in strengthening bilateral ties.
