HCMC – The Government will begin collecting tolls on six newly built expressways as it seeks to recoup the funds it has used to develop these roads and finance other infrastructure projects.

The Ministry of Transport has tasked the Department for Roads of Vietnam with developing a plan to manage and operate the toll collection systems of the six expressways.

The six expressways in question are Mai Son-National Highway 45, National Highway 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet-Dau Giay, and My Thuan-Can Tho.

The department said that these expressways meet the standards for toll collection, as they have been fully completed and equipped with the necessary infrastructure, such as toll booths and intelligent transportation systems.

The Government estimates that the toll collections would generate VND3.21 trillion in revenue per year, of which VND2.85 trillion would go to the State budget.

Cars with less than 12 seats will be charged VND1,300 per kilometer on standard expressways and VND900 per kilometer on non-standard expressways.
