Trade negotiation team set up for bilateral talks with U.S.

HCMC – The Government has established a high-level negotiation team tasked with engaging the U.S. on a reciprocal trade agreement, according to a decision signed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 12.

The negotiation delegation is led by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, with Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan serving as deputy head, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).

Other members include senior officials from key ministries and agencies, such as Cao Anh Tuan, deputy minister of Finance; Hoang Trung, deputy minister of Agriculture and Environment; Pham Duc Long, deputy minister of Science and Technology; Do Hung Viet, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs; Pham Quang Dung, deputy governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; Nguyen Ba Hoan, deputy minister of Home Affairs; and Nguyen Quoc Dung, Vietnam’s Ambassador to the U.S.

The delegation is responsible for coordinating with relevant ministries to develop negotiation scenarios and strategies aimed at securing a reciprocal trade agreement.

The team will lead formal negotiations with the U.S. side, seeking a stable, effective, and mutually respectful deal. It shall report negotiation progress and outcomes to the prime minister and propose policy actions for implementing the agreement once concluded.
