HCMC – The Ministry of Transport must disburse nearly VND23 trillion by the end of 2024 to meet its target of disbursing at least 95% of allocated capital, according to updates shared during a work briefing on December 12.
As of November, the ministry had disbursed around VND52.75 trillion, achieving 70% of its assigned target—a rate that exceeds the national average of public capital disbursement.
Luu Quang Thin, deputy director of the Planning and Investment Department under the Ministry of Transport, reported that the ministry’s allocated budget was initially VND56.67 trillion, later increased to VND75.48 trillion to execute various transport projects.
To meet the Government’s disbursement goal, an additional VND23 trillion must be utilized within the remaining weeks of the year. This is a significant challenge that demands maximum effort from investors and project management boards, Thin said.
The disbursement rate for phase one of the North-South expressway project remains behind schedule. Investors are urged to expedite the completion of additional components, including ITS systems and toll stations, to accelerate progress.
For phase two of the North-South expressway and other expressway projects, key focus areas include advancing payments, completing inspections, and processing payments efficiently. Additionally, collaboration with local authorities is essential to resolve land clearance issues and minimize delays.
Thirteen projects with total funding of VND3.37 trillion, carried over from 2023 to 2024, have been identified as priorities for disbursement. With only 40% of these funds disbursed so far, project management teams and investors have been instructed to allocate all necessary resources to meet year-end targets.
