HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) and local air carriers to put air ticket price spikes under control and explore measures to lower airfares.
In a letter sent to the CAAV on May 30, the Ministry of Transport instructed the authority to collaborate with carriers to propose solutions to increase seating capacity. This includes creating favorable conditions for airlines to add more aircraft for the upcoming summer holiday.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the plan to reduce domestic air ticket costs should balance the interests of government, businesses, and passengers.
CAAV is also tasked with coordinating with the National Tourism Authority of Vietnam, localities, airlines, and travel agencies to develop tourism packages. These efforts aim to diversify products and service supply chains, thereby reducing costs.
Domestic airlines are required to strictly adhere to regulations on domestic airfare pricing, fare listing, and announcements. They are also encouraged to implement flexible and affordable airfare policies on domestic routes, suitable for tourist programs and festivals.
Airlines should add more aircraft to increase supply capacity during peak periods and schedule night flights to cater to the travel demands of passengers.
