HCMC – The Trump Organization, in partnership with Hung Yen Hospitality, broke ground on the Trump International Hung Yen project in in the northern province of Hung Yen.

The US$1.5 billion urban, tourism, and golf complex, covering nearly 1,000 hectares, is the first Trump-branded development in Vietnam and aims to position the region as a premier destination for golf and luxury living in Asia.

The project, a collaboration between the family business of U.S. President Donald Trump and Hung Yen Hospitality—a subsidiary of Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation (KBC), includes a 54-hole VIP golf course, luxury villas, a resort, and a modern urban complex with international-standard amenities.

Covering seven communes in Khoai Chau District, the development is expected to house over 3,500 residents across four zones, including an eco-friendly residential area tied to the golf course, a commercial, service and urban area, and a 99-hectare themed park.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the project’s role in deepening Vietnam-U.S. relations. “This project is significant in promoting substantive and effective ties between Vietnam and the United States,” he said, noting that the presence of the Trump Organization signals growing confidence among foreign investors, including major U.S. firms like Intel, Nike, Apple, Boeing, and Nvidia, in Vietnam’s business environment.

The ceremony was attended by key figures, including U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper, Vietnam’s Deputy Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Public Security Minister Lt. Gen. Le Quoc Hung, Hung Yen Province’s Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia, and Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, accompanied by his wife.

Eric Trump expressed enthusiasm for the venture, describing Vietnam as “one of the most dynamic and promising markets in the world.” He pledged to complete the project within two years, aiming to create a golf course that would “make the region and the world jealous.” The Trump Organization, known for its portfolio of over 20 high-end golf and resort properties, including Trump Turnberry in Scotland and Trump National Doral in Miami, brings its global expertise to the venture.

The project, first proposed in September 2024, received investment approval from Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on May 15, 2025. It includes a 240-hectare golf course with 36 holes for professional play and 18 holes for recreational use, alongside 7.3 hectares designated for social housing. The development is expected to be completed in time for the APEC 2027 summit hosted by Vietnam, with Prime Minister Chinh urging local authorities and ministries to expedite land clearance and construction while ensuring environmental and labor standards.

Dang Thanh Tam, chairman of KBC, highlighted the shared vision between the partners to transform Hung Yen into a leading destination for golf and lifestyle in Asia. “From our first discussions, we recognized Hung Yen’s potential,” he said, citing the province’s strategic location near Hanoi and its burgeoning real estate market, which has attracted major developers like Ecopark, Vinhomes, and CapitaLand.

Hung Yen, located just across the Red River from Hanoi, has emerged as a hotspot for large-scale urban projects. Khoai Chau District, with its 13,000 hectares and 25 administrative units, is poised to benefit from the economic ripple effects of the Trump International Hung Yen project, which is expected to create jobs and boost local livelihoods.

Prime Minister Chinh underscored Vietnam’s resilience, noting that the country has overcome decades of war and economic isolation to achieve robust growth. He called for continued public support for land clearance, emphasizing that relocated residents should be provided with better living conditions. “The new homes must be better than the old ones,” he said, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.

The Trump International Hung Yen project is seen as a symbol of Vietnam’s ambition to elevate its global profile while strengthening bilateral ties with the United States. As Eric Trump noted, the development is not just a landmark project but a “commitment to excellence” and a tribute to Vietnam’s vibrant culture and rapid growth.
