HCMC – Ministry of Public Security (MPS) investigators have determined that Truong Huy San and Tran Dinh Trien engaged in acts of abusing democratic freedoms by posting articles on Facebook in violation of the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
Speaking at a press conference held by the ministry yesterday afternoon (July 8), Colonel Nguyen Tuan Hung, deputy director of the Department of Investigation Security (A09), said that based on the results of the investigation, the investigation agency decided on June 7 to file legal proceedings against the case, prosecute the accused, and detain Truong Huy San (also known as Osin Huy Duc) and Tran Dinh Trien, head of Vi Dan Law Office, Hanoi Bar Association.
The two were accused of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals under Article 331 of the Penal Code.
According to Colonel Hung, the investigation agency is expanding the investigation and handle the case in accordance with the law.
San, a 63-year-old native of Ha Tinh Province, used to work for several newspapers. Meanwhile, Trien has a doctorate in law, and is deputy head of the Hanoi City Bar Association for the 2020-2025 term, and he has been practicing law for more than 40 years.
