HCMC – Tunnel boring for Hanoi’s metro line between Nhon and Hanoi Station is set to commence on July 30, with two tunnel boring machines (TBM) used to excavate around 10 meters daily each, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
FECON Corporation, the contractor responsible for operating the TBM, will start the tunneling process using two TBMs.
The first TBM will drill the tunnel from S9 Station to Kim Ma Station at a depth of nearly 18 meters. Following this, the second TBM will begin its tunneling work. The robots are expected to cover about 10 meters per day, with tunnel lining being installed concurrently as the excavation progresses.
Over 150 workers are involved in the construction work. FECON has deployed experienced foreign and Vietnamese staff to operate the machines and manage the robotic arms for tunnel lining installation.
