HCMC – Two Belgian entities – Haemers Technologies and Aquitara Impact Fund – have been approved to conduct a dioxin remediation project in Vietnam.

The project utilizes advanced Belgian thermal technology to transform contaminated areas into safe, productive landscapes. The process involves specialized thermal desorption where tainted soil is heated to 1,200 degree Celcius to completely vaporize and destroy dioxin molecules.

The Vietnam News Agency quoted Jan Haemers, CEO of Haemers Technologies, as saying that while the undertaking is a long-term commitment that could span generations and cost hundreds of millions of euros per site, the primary goal is to foster sustainable growth.

According to Franc Bogovic of Aquitara Impact Fund, the project is aimed at not only cleaning the environment but also securing livelihoods, including plans to establish 150 small businesses for affected families in remote areas.
