HCMC – Quang Ngai Province has imposed social distancing in Quang Ngai City in line with the Prime Minister’s Directive 15 from midnight, June 29, while Tuy Hoa City in Phu Yen Province suspended the Tuy Hoa Market, the largest in the province, from this afternoon, June 28, due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Quang Ngai City has become the second part of the province to practice social distancing to prevent the spread of the disease, after Duc Pho Town, according to the decision signed by Quang Ngai Chairman Dang Van Minh.

The government of Quang Ngai City was tasked with keeping a close watch on compliance with the social distancing order, the local media reported.

As of 11.00 a.m. today, the province’s Duc Pho Town reported 41 domestic Covid-19 cases, according to the provincial Department of Health.

Many residents of the town have traveled to Quang Ngai City, posing a high risk of community transmission, leading to the social distancing order.

Meanwhile, since the first Covid-19 case was detected on June 24, Phu Yen has reported 58 infections, with 20 of them found this morning, mainly in Tuy Hoa City, said the provincial steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

The contact tracing results showed the Covid-19 positive cases had earlier visited Tuy Hoa Market in Tuy Hoa City, so the municipal government imposed the suspension on the market from 4.00 p.m. today until further notice.

The Tuy Hoa City Healthcare Center was told to promptly take samples from vendors and employees at the market, which has some 1,620 fixed stalls and 3,200 traders and employees, for Covid-19 testing.
