HCMC – A fire at a four-story house in Tan Binh District of HCMC on the morning of December 20 claimed two lives due to smoke inhalation and left 14 others hospitalized, according to local media reports.
The fire broke out around 7 a.m. on the second and third floors of a 60-square-meter house on Xuan Hong Street, Ward 12. The building was divided into more than a dozen small rental rooms, with motorcycles parked on the ground floor.
At the time of the incident, 23 people were inside. The main entrance, the house’s only escape route, was obstructed by a large number of motorcycles, complicating evacuation efforts.
Authorities confirmed that two individuals were trapped in room 301 and died from smoke inhalation. Fourteen others, suffering from burns and smoke-related injuries, were rushed to Thong Nhat Hospital, about a kilometer away, for treatment.
