Two deputies leave National Assembly

Must read

HCMC – The National Assembly Standing Committee today, August 13, relieved Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh and former Party Secretary of Tuyen Quang Province Chau Van Lam of their positions as NA deputies.

The decision followed a review of the Constitution, the Law on the Organization of the NA, and relevant legal documents. The committee also considered the opinions of relevant agencies and the resignation requests submitted by Khanh on August 5 and Lam on August 6.

The NA Standing Committee held a secret ballot before issuing Resolution No. 1139, which formally terminates their roles as deputies in the 15th NA.

On August 3, the Party Central Committee accepted the formal requests for resignation from four senior Party members, including Khanh and Lam, at an extraordinary session chaired by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.

Inspection reports from the Central Inspection Commission found these officials had violated Party regulations on carrying out assigned duties, breached the rules on the don’ts for Party members and on Party members’ responsibility of acting as role models, and infringed anti-corruption regulations.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and Quang Ninh Province’s Party Secretary Nguyen Xuan Ky were among those who resigned from the Party Central Committee that day.
