HCMC – One 33-year-old resident of Bac Giang Province and one 63-year-old Hanoian have been confirmed as the fresh Covid-19 cases of community transmission in Vietnam, taking the country’s total infections to 812 as of this morning, August 9, said the Health Ministry.
The case in Bac Giang had visited the central city of Danang, the nation’s current largest coronavirus hotspot, from July 21 to 24 with her five family members, who were later confirmed as positive for the novel coronavirus.
The case in Hanoi on July 27 contacted with a Covid-19 patient who had traveled to Danang before being confirmed to be infected with the respiratory disease.
The new patients are being quarantined and treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.
With these two fresh cases, the number of locally-transmitted cases linked to the Danang coronavirus hotspot has reached 355 after just a fortnight since July 25. Vietnam has to date reported 395 Covid-19 recoveries and 10 deaths.
