The two historical sites – the Front-line Surgical Station and the Tomb of Dang Van Hoa – both in Phong Thai Ward, Hue City, have been recognized as national relics by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, according to vietnamplus.vn.
The Front-line Surgical Station was an underground tunnel site used during the Spring 1975 Campaign for treating wounded soldiers. This historical site marked the sacrifice of 33 war martyrs in the battle on March 12, 1975. In 2019, the site was recognized as a provincial relic. Ever since, a gate, a reception and showroom, the tunnel, surgical beds, stele house, the mass grave area, roads and greenery have been restored or built for the new national relic.
Dang Van Hoa (1791-1856) was a mandarin for nearly 40 years in the reigns of King Gia Long, King Minh Mang, King Thieu Tri and King Tu Duc of the Nguyen Dynasty. He was famous for his honesty and integrity. He also did many useful works for the people. His tomb was recognized as a provincial historical relic in 2013. The national recognition is aimed to commemorate Dang Van Hoa’s great contributions to the country.

Vietnamese, Japanese artists hold art exhibition in town
The Sac Thu (Autumn Hue) 2025 art exhibition introducing 176 artworks of 25 Vietnamese and Japanese artists took place at the HCMC Fine Arts Museum from September 23 to 29. The event, jointly held by Nang Mai Artists Club and the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association in HCMC, was frequented by quite a few local and international art-lovers.
The 176 artworks comprised oil paintings, lacquer paintings, silk paintings, graphics, sculpture and installation art of 22 Vietnamese artists and three visiting artists from Japan. The Vietnamese artists introduced an artistic space with Vietnamese identity through the sceneries depicting the country and its people.
Meanwhile, the three Japanese artists – Tomoi Takayuki, Sano Yoshihisa and Ono Chie – chose to introduce their installation art via discarded objects such as cardboard boxes, plastic bottles and used items. Tomoi Takayuki told tuoitre.vn that art could change viewers’ vision, adding that he expected the public would think twice about what is important for the future of human beings.
The three Japanese artists attended an art exhibition in HCMC two years ago. Their return to the art exhibition this year affirms a close connection between Japanese and Vietnamese artists. The Sac Thu 2025 art exhibition proves the special friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
