HCMC – Typhoon Man-yi, the ninth storm to impact Vietnam this year, is weakening as it moves westward across the East Sea, according to the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecast Center.

As of 4 a.m. local time, the eye of the storm was located at 18 degrees north latitude and 118.9 degrees east longitude, with maximum sustained winds of 103-133 kilometers per hour. It is currently moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour.

The typhoon is expected to weaken further as it approaches Vietnam’s Paracel Islands (Hoang Sa). By November 21, Man-yi is forecast to dissipate into a tropical depression over the waters off central Vietnam.

In addition to the typhoon, Vietnam is preparing for a cold snap, with temperatures in northern regions expected to drop to 15 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.
