HCMC – The entire 83-kilometer Van Phong-Nha Trang Expressway will be fully opened to traffic soon as its final 13-kilometer section has recently been completed, local media said.

According to the Project Management Unit No. 7 under the Ministry of Construction, the final section has been finished and is ready for operation, enabling uninterrupted travel from Co Ma Tunnel in Dai Lanh Commune to Dien Tho Commune in Khanh Hoa Province.

Earlier, a 70-kilometer section was opened to traffic in April 2025, helping ease congestion on National Highway 1 and shorten travel time between localities.

The newly completed section, running parallel with National Highway 1, had faced delays due to site clearance issues, relocation of infrastructure, and shortages of construction materials.

With additional manpower and equipment mobilized, work has now been completed, with total output valued at VND1.374 trillion, equivalent to 100% of the contracted construction value.

The expressway, built at a cost of more than VND11.8 trillion, currently has four lanes with a design speed of 90 kilometers per hour. It will eventually be expanded to six lanes with speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

Authorities say the route will improve connectivity between HCMC, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces via the Deo Ca Tunnel, while spurring new urban, industrial, and tourism development in northern Khanh Hoa.
