HCMC – Vehicles with fewer than 16 seats have been banned from traveling on the Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway since this morning, September 12, due to severe flooding in both directions in the Thuong Tin District area.
The third lane and emergency stopping lane of the expressway are submerged under 0.7 to 0.8 meter of water. This is the third day the expressway has been partially submerged, causing a traffic snarl.
Several 16-seat passenger vehicles broke down yesterday while attempting to negotiate the flooded section, said Vu Ngoc Oanh, deputy general director of BOT Phap Van-Cau Gie JSC.
The water pumping station has been operated at full capacity to reduce flooding while the irrigation systems in Van Binh and Lien Phuong communes have been cleared.
