HCMC – Vietnam Container Shipping JSC (Viconship), whose VSC shares are traded on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, has announced the appointment of Ta Cong Thong, a board member and director of marketing, as CEO.
Thong will begin assuming the post of CEO in the 2020-2025 tenure on February 28, replacing Cap Trong Cuong, who resigned for personal reasons.
Born in 1985, Thong had served as a board member from March 2021 and as director of the marketing department at the company from June 2022.
Currently, he holds no VSC shares.
Regarding business performance, the company recorded revenue of VND2,181 billion in 2023, up by 8.67% against the previous year. However, its after-tax profit plunged by 48.7% year-on-year to VND201.54 billion as its costs rose sharply.
Closing the trading session today, February 21, VSC fell by 1.09% against yesterday’s session to VND22,650 per share, with volume of more than 3.98 million shares.
On the southern bourse, the VN-Index moved sideways at 1,230.04 points, a 0.02% decline versus yesterday’s session, with 239 winners and 262 losers.
The trading volume reached 988.9 million shares valued at a combined VND22.6 trillion, up 5% in volume and down 7% in value compared to the previous session. There were around 102.7 million shares traded in block deals, with a total value of VND2.07 trillion.
Lender STB gained 2.61% at VND31,500 per share, and continued to be the most liquid stock on the market, with 44.46 million shares traded.
Under the selling pressure, VIC and VHM plummeted by 2.58% and 2.49% to VND47,250 and VND45,000, respectively. Meanwhile, VRE advanced by 1.96% day-on-day to VND26,000, with 21.07 million shares transacted.
On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index of the Hanoi Stock market gained 0.35 point, or 0.15%, compared to the session earlier, to 233.84 points, with 83 stocks rising and 90 others dipping.
Over 76 million shares worth VND1,443 billion changed hands today, down 22.8% in volume and 19.2% in value.
