Viconship to issue 20 million shares for dividend payment

HCMC – Vietnam Container Shipping JSC (Viconship), whose VSC shares are traded on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, said that it will issue over 20 million shares to pay the 2023 dividend.

With the stock dividend payment at a ratio of 7.5, shareholders will receive 75 new shares for every 1,000 shares held, the local media reported.

The firm will finalize the list of shareholders eligible for the dividend payment on September 12.

For its business performance, Viconship posted revenue of nearly VND718 billion in the second quarter of this year, up by 34% year-on-year. Its consolidated profit reached VND221.2 billion in the period, up by a staggering 49% year-on-year.

Closing the trading session today, August 12, VSC rose by 1.34% to VND18,950 per share, with around three million shares changing hands.

Regarding the stock market, market liquidity was still low as investors remained cautious after recent sharp volatility. However, the VN-Index has bounced back to 1,230 points thanks to the better performance of blue-chip stocks.

With 238 winners and 168 losers, the VN-Index added 6.64 points today, or 0.54%, against the previous session at 1230.28 points.

There were around 551.2 million shares worth VND14.03 trillion traded on bourse, down by 6% in volume and 1.7% in value compared to the final trading session on August 9. Block deal transactions contributed 56.54 million shares worth a total of nearly VND1.99 trillion.

The VN30 index ended the day up by 6.6 points, with 19 stocks advancing and eight others declining. VHM and VIC were the main drags as they lost 1.9% and 1.5%, respectively.

On the other hand, FPT shares continued the uptrend, closing at VND130,000, up by 2.4%, followed by GVR and SSI, both rising by 2.2%.

On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index improved by 1.39 points, or 0.6%, at 230.77 points. The trade volume reached 39.34 million shares, valued at a total of VND827.8 billion.
