HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has proposed that Indonesia import more agricultural and Halal products from Vietnam.

He made the proposal at his meeting this morning, September 14, with Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who is in Vietnam for a September 13-14 visit.

Subianto expressed his deep condolences to Vietnam over the serious consequences of typhoon Yagi.

Indonesia wants to promote cooperation with Vietnam in food security, energy security and high technology, he added.

The two sides believe the two countries will soon reach US$18 billion in two-way trade while working together to remove difficulties, reduce trade barriers, and facilitate market access for each other’s goods.

Also this morning, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Prabowo Subianto.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto agreed that it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in defense and security; in preventing, combating, and addressing transnational crimes; and in fighting illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The two reaffirmed the importance of peace, stability, safety, security, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea.

NA Chairman Man said he expected Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto to support the legislative bodies of both countries in strengthening relations and sharing experiences in lawmaking and institutional development.
