HCMC – Vietnam Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VietABank), which trades its shares under code VAB, will have its shares listed on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) on July 22, with a reference price of VND14,250 per share.
According to a recent announcement by HOSE, over 539.96 million VAB shares will begin trading on the exchange next Tuesday. The stock will be subject to a 20% daily price fluctuation limit on its first day.
Previously, VAB shares were traded on the Unlisted Public Company Market (UPCoM) from July 20, 2021, until July 9, 2025. On its final trading day on UPCoM, the stock closed at VND15,200, up more than 60% since the start of the year.
The upcoming listing on HOSE marks a new milestone in VietABank’s development, making it the 21st bank in Vietnam’s banking system to have shares listed on an exchange. HOSE is currently home to 18 bank stocks, while the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) has two.
In parallel with its listing, VietABank is undergoing a capital restructuring process. The State Bank of Vietnam has approved the lender’s plan to raise its charter capital by up to VND2.76 trillion through a share issue to over VND8.16 trillion.
In the first quarter of 2025, VietABank reported after-tax profit of VND292.9 billion, a 44% year-on-year increase. As of the end of March, its total assets reached VND129.05 trillion, up 7.7% compared to the beginning of the year.
The bank has set a target of VND1.3 trillion in pre-tax profit for 2025, up 20.3% from its 2024 goal.
In a separate development, HOSE’s benchmark index closed higher on Wednesday, buoyed by gains in the real estate and banking sectors.
The VN-Index rose by 14.82 points, or 1.01%, to finish at 1,475.47 points, with 215 winners and 103 losers. Total trading volume was 1.35 billion shares, valued at VND32.86 trillion, down slightly from the previous session. Block deals contributed 136 million shares worth VND5.38 trillion.
Banking stocks recovered after a weak start. CTG, TCB, SHB, and TPB posted gains of more than 1%. VIB and NAB were among the few banks to see losses, while ACB remained unchanged.
The securities sector showed strong performance, with VIX hitting its daily limit of VND17,100. SSI and other stocks in the sector also advanced.
Stocks in the real estate sector performed well, led by VIC, which rose 5.2% to VND117,400. Other notable gainers included SCR, NBB and CCI.
Steel stocks were also in the green, with VCA hitting its ceiling price of VND11,100, and HPG gaining 2.35%.
VIX became the most traded stock, with 91.9 million shares changing hands. BCG followed with 60.05 million shares. SHB, SSI, and HPG also saw significant trading volumes.
The VN30-Index, which tracks the 30 largest-cap stocks, ended up 20.58 points, or 1.29%, at 1,614.42 points.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 2.02 points, or 0.84%, closing at 242.35 points, with 91 advancers and 73 decliners. Total volume on the HNX reached 165.6 million shares valued at VND2.7 trillion.
