VietinBank Capital increases stake in Viconship

HCMC – VietinBank Capital has increased its stake in Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Corporation (Viconship, ticker: VSC) from 16.7% to 17.14%, according to local media reports.

VietinBank Capital said that it acquired nearly 1.24 million VSC shares, boosting its shareholding from 47.9 million shares to 49.14 million shares on February 14.

Based on the VSC stock price of VND18,500 per share on February 14, VietinBank Capital spent around VND23 billion acquiring these shares.

VietinBank Capital is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank), operating in the investment fund management sector.

In June 2024, VietinBank Capital became a major shareholder of Viconship after successfully acquiring 9.2 million VSC shares, increasing its ownership to 8.25%, equivalent to 22 million shares.

Regarding VSC, according to its Q4/2024 financial report, the company recorded nearly VND774.8 billion in net revenue, up by 24% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, net profit surged by over 333% to VND321.7 billion.

Closing the trading session today, February 19, VSC rose by 0.84% day-on-day to VND18,000 per share, with around 2.2 million shares changing hands.

On the southern bourse, the VN-Index added 10.42 points, or 0.82%, against yesterday’s session, at 1,288.56 points. With 349 winners, including 15 that soared to their ceiling prices, and 119 losers, it marked the strongest trading session in the past two weeks.

Around 814.6 million shares worth VND17.5 trillion were traded on bourse, up by 15% in volume and 22.7% in value against the previous session. Block deal transactions contributed around VND2.1 trillion to the overall value.

In the VN30 basket, only three stocks declined (BVH, SSB, and HPG), while VJC remained unchanged, and the rest advanced.

Leading the gains were two real estate stocks, BCM and GVR, both rising 2.59% to VND71,300 and VND31,650, respectively. MWG, VRE, and MSN increased by around 2%.

On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index added 1.95 points, or 0.83%, versus the previous day to close at 237.79 points, with 116 stocks advancing and 70 others declining. The total trading volume reached 97.4 million shares worth a total of VND1.6 trillion.
