HCMC – Vietjet will open multiple new air routes connecting Vietnam’s Hanoi, HCMC and Phu Quoc with India’s Mumbai and New Delhi in the coming months.

The airline on April 19 announced the plan at a ceremony witnessed by Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of Representatives) of India Om Birla, and Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.

Vietjet will start operating four round-trip flights per week on the HCMC-Mumbai route on June 2 and three weekly round-trip flights on the Hanoi-Mumbai route on June 3, the local media reported.

The Phu Quoc-Mumbai air route will have four weekly two-way flights, while three round-trip flights will be launched for the Phu Quoc-New Delhi route each week, starting from early September.

Vietjet had earlier operated two direct routes linking Vietnam’s Hanoi and HCMC and India’s capital city of New Delhi, apart from some charter flights from Vietnam to the Bodh Gaya religious site. The carrier will resume the two services on April 29 and April 30, with three weekly flights on each route.
