HCMC – Vietnam is aiming for 25 to 28 million international tourists and 130 million domestic tourists next year.

These goals are outlined in Decision 509/QD-TTg, which approves the Master Plan for Tourism Development from 2021 to 2030, with a vision to 2045, signed by the prime minister.

The Master Plan is aimed at establishing Vietnam as an attractive tourist destination and developing tourism into an economic spearhead by 2030.

The specific targets set forth in the plan include welcoming 35 million international tourists with an annual growth rate of 13-15% and serving 160 million domestic tourists with an annual growth rate of 4-5% by 2030.

The tourism sector is expected to contribute 8-9% to GDP by 2025 and 13-14% by 2030.

To achieve these targets, the Government will focus on leveraging marine tourist resources to develop competitive tourism products. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on sustainable tourism development based on natural resources, particularly in wildlife reserves, national parks, and natural heritage sites.

In May this year, about 1.4 million international tourists visited Vietnam, a year-on-year increase of 51%, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
