HCMC – The Cau Treo International Border Gate Economic Zone in the central province of Ha Tinh will be developed into a multi-sector economic area with a vision toward 2045, according to a newly approved master plan.
The prime minister’s Decision No. 439/QD-TTg signed on March 16 greenlights the strategic adjustment for the 56,685-hectare zone to elevate Cau Treo into a gateway on the East-West Economic Corridor, connecting Vietnam directly with Laos and northeastern Thailand.
Under the revised master plan, the economic zone will be structured into nine functional subdivisions, covering over 23,000 hectares of core development area. The strategy focuses on five key pillars, including boosting Vietnam-Laos border cooperation, establishing high-tech agro-forestry centers, promoting eco-tourism and developing advanced industrial and logistics sectors.
The zone will focus on sustainable development by integrating modern infrastructure with the region’s natural ecosystem and cultural heritage. Key projects attached to the zone include the Dai Kim Industrial Zone and the Nuoc Sot eco-tourism complex, alongside modernized logistics facilities and residential areas.
