HCMC – A roundtable aimed at enhancing cooperation between Australia and Vietnam to support the latter’s Industry 4.0 transformation agenda was jointly organized by the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology and RMIT University late last week.
The Vietnam-Australia Strategy Roundtable on Industry 4.0 Collaboration was attended by senior Vietnamese leaders and department heads of the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, academic institutions and large corporations operating in Vietnam.
International attendees comprised the Australian Prime Minister’s Industry 4.0 Taskforce, leaders of global companies such as Siemens Australia and Festo Didactic Asia Pacific, RMIT University leaders and representatives from the Australian Embassy in Hanoi.
The roundtable showcased the best practice approaches to address Industry 4.0 in Australia and connected the key stakeholders in Industry 4.0, including governments, industries and businesses.
Addressing the event, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said, “In order to actively engage in Industry 4.0, Vietnam needs to expand collaboration with strategic partners with advanced science and technology. Vietnam and Australia have forged a strategic partnership since March 2018, and there is huge potential for cooperation between our two countries in the fields of Industry 4.0.”
“This strategy roundtable has kicked off an industry-led discussion on Vietnam’s and Australia’s cooperation over the future of Industry 4.0 in Vietnam. Going forward, we wish to promote strategic partnerships between government agencies, businesses, institutions and universities from both countries and establish an ongoing dialogue for cooperation,” he added.
According to RMIT University Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President Digital Innovation Professor Aleks Subic, the strategic roundtable would facilitate greater collaboration between companies and government institutions from Vietnam and Australia.
“I look forward to bringing to this partnership our experience in establishing and operationalizing the Australian network of Industry 4.0 hubs and pilot programs in digital technologies that are already transforming the manufacturing sector at scale through partnerships between the government, the industry and the academia,” Professor Subic said.
The outcomes of the roundtable are expected to open up new cooperation initiatives and strategically connect Australian platforms with Industry 4.0 initiatives in Vietnam. The roundtable has also created a basis for ongoing dialogue to connect, share experiences and collaborate with a view to manage the challenges and opportunities of Industry 4.0, while ensuring that all parties benefit from a better future with the revolution.
The industry linkages created are further expected to support increased trade and investment between the two countries, consistent with the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership signed in November 2020.
