HCMC – Vietnam has overtaken Norway as the third-largest seafood exporter to Singapore in the first half of this year, after Malaysia and Indonesia.
Data from the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore showed that Vietnam shipped S$57.2 million worth of seafood to the city-state between January and June, up 10.8% compared to the same period last year. The figure accounted for 10.2% of Singapore’s total seafood imports.
Among Vietnam’s seafood exports to Singapore, fish fillets and chilled or frozen fish remained the top category, with a total value of S$29 million, representing a 2.1% year-on-year increase and making up 29.6% of Vietnam’s seafood market share in Singapore.
Two other key Vietnamese seafood categories exported to Singapore were crustaceans and mollusks, both processed and unprocessed. Crustaceans brought in S$12.5 million, accounting for 9.4% of market share, while mollusks contributed S$7.1 million, or 12.4%.
Singapore’s total seafood imports from global sources reached nearly S$559.5 million in the first six months of 2025, up 2.4% year-on-year.
The Southeast Asian nation’s seafood demand mainly focused on four categories: fresh or chilled fish, excluding fillets, frozen fish excluding fillets, chilled or frozen fish fillets and meat, and crustaceans. Each of these categories recorded import values exceeding S$110 million during the period.
Malaysia and Indonesia, Singapore’s two largest seafood suppliers, primarily exported crustaceans and fresh or chilled fish excluding fillets and other processed parts, with respective export values reaching S$75.2 million and S$63.2 million.
