HCMC – Vietnam and Brazil have agreed on directions and measures to further strengthen their strategic partnership, furthering its depth, practicality, and effectiveness.
Vietnam’s State President Luong Cuong on March 28 held talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is on a state visit to Vietnam from March 27 to 29, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
During the talks, State President Luong Cuong emphasized the special significance of the President’s visit, following the upgrade of Vietnam-Brazil ties to a strategic partnership in November 2024.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the robust development of bilateral relations, particularly the elevation of their ties to a strategic partnership. President Cuong expressed gratitude to the Brazilian Government for recognizing Vietnam’s market economy status as well as its achievements in economic reform and international integration.
He said that this recognition contributes to strengthening bilateral relations and supports the goal of increasing two-way trade to US$15 billion by 2030.
The two sides agreed to further promote collaboration in key areas of mutual interest, including defense – security, science – technology, clean energy, education – training, culture, sports, and people-to-people exchange.
After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of several bilateral cooperation documents.
They include an action plan for the implementation of the Strategic Partnership, an agreement on income-generating employment for relatives of diplomats, a governmental-level agreement on the exchange and protection of confidential information, a MoU on the establishment of a working group to promote trade and industrial cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, and another MoU on football cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation and the Brazilian Football Confederation.
